24/03/2025 – We welcomed 50 pupils from 3ᵉ collège in Rostrenen, as part of the Cordées de la Réussite programme, organised by the CMQe Numérique, Photonique & Cybersécurité.
On the programme: a presentation on photonics at the Maison des Entreprises, a tour of our facilities and two workshops to learn about photonics:
- Soldering an optical fibre
- Measuring the diameter of a hair using laser diffraction
An immersion into the heart of optical fibre design, where students were able to understand how a preform is made on our glass bench, and the different stages in the production process of an optical fibre on our fibre-drawing tower.
Photonics Bretagne is proud to be involved in this type of educational initiative, which aims to promote photonics among young people and encourage them to take up the profession. It’s a great opportunity for them to discover a sector with a bright future, full of innovation and numerous career opportunities.
