17/02/2025 – It’s an original idea and a perfectly executed operation by the CMQe Numérique, Photonique & Cybersécurité (Digital, Photonics & Cybersecurity CMQe): to introduce the world of photonics and photonics-related professions to 3rd year pupils from secondary schools in Lannion and the surrounding area during a one-week internship.
On the programme: workshops, activities, games, including a photonics start-up competition… and of course, exploration of the professional world via company visits. Many thanks to IDIL Fibres Optiques, Lumibird, Oxxius, KERDRY, Exail, Idea Optical and ENSSAT, who opened their doors to show the diversity of technologies and applications involved!
Photonics Bretagne was delighted to welcome 75 students from 10 secondary schools again this year. In small groups over 6 weeks, we were able to share our passion for photonics and teach them about the powers of light and how an optical fibre is made, including a visit to our fibre-drawing tower. We hope that some of them will follow the example of our last trainee, who was in their place last year and is now studying for a BAC Pro in Photonics at the Lycée Felix Le Dantec!
