Continuing Education

Discovering, Retraining, Perfecting your Skills...

As an expert in photonics engineering, Photonics Bretagne offers a complete range of tailor-made training courses in collaboration with training centres such as the UIMM in Brittany. These courses can be taken on the premises of Photonics Bretagne and/or the client company.

Which topics?

Optics and photonics, laser technologies and applications, fibre laser technology, fibre optics, components, sensors…

Who should attend?

Jobseekers, people undergoing vocational retraining, employees (operators, technicians, engineers, support staff, etc.).

What format?

Tailor-made training courses, from ½ to several days, combining theory and practice (in the form of practical work on dedicated workstations/equipment).

Photonics Bretagne’s continuing training activity echoes the needs of many companies in the photonics sector. They meet 3 objectives.

Gaining New Skills

To provide a foundation of basic knowledge and skills for employees who may lack initial training, enabling them to be more effective in their jobs and to take a step back from their operations.

Professional Development

To provide employees with new theoretical and practical skills, enabling them to progress within their company.

Retraining

To enable employees or jobseekers to discover a new technical field, to acquire new skills as part of their company’s new technological direction or to retrain for a new career.

Example of In-Company Training

24 employees from Keopsys (Lumibird group) – production operators, after-sales technicians and engineers from the industrialisation department – attended a tailor-made training course dedicated to fibre laser technologies. The aim was to provide them with a common knowledge base in optics and photonics to help them better understand their jobs, any problems they may encounter, and how to analyse and resolve them.

To support the theory, practical work was carried out on the optical functions of fibre components used in the assembly of laser systems, as well as on polarisation, polarisation-maintaining fibres and the measurement of related parameters. The course was rounded off by further practical work on some of Keopsys’ (Lumibird group) characterisation benches.

‘The strength of the training provided by Photonics Bretagne lies in the adaptability of the programme to the audience, as well as in the good preparation of the team in a spirit of cohesion’.

Example of Inter-Company Training

Keopsys (Lumibird group) and Oxxius wanted to recruit and train 10 and 2 future photonics production operators respectively, to meet a need arising from an increase in their activity. The UIMM, Photonics Bretagne and 4 other local partners therefore set up a specific collective training programme which enabled 12 candidates, both jobseekers and people undergoing professional retraining, to obtain a 12-month fixed-term contract and validate their “Autonomous Industrial Production Operator” Joint Metallurgy Qualification Certificate.

- «The training was fascinating and today I'm lucky enough to be working in a job with a future in a buoyant sector, with the prospect of a permanent contract. »

«After my studies in photonics and optics, I was having trouble finding my first job. This course was a great opportunity for me, and a great way to discover Trégor! »
