A New Step in the Consolidation of the Rennes University Site

The University of Rennes 1 will now be the University of Rennes. It is an experimental public institution created on January 1st, 2023. The University’s new graphic identity reaffirms its regional and historical roots.

The Université de Rennes groups together five institutions (EHESP, ENS Rennes, ENSCR, INSA Rennes and Sciences PO Rennes), as well as a number of teaching and research units. The University of Rennes 2 is also joining forces and so continues the close collaboration it has had over many years with the University of Rennes 1. The aim is to create an internationally recognized scientific and cultural university site.

In order to meet today’s scientific, socio-economic and environmental challenges, the University of Rennes and the University of Rennes 2 have decided to sign an association agreement. The agreement was approved by the Boards of Directors of the two universities in January, at the end of the 2022-2027 site contract period.

The two universities will now put this ambitious initiative into practice by coordinating their skills and actions to improve students’ study experience and quality of life. They will seek to strengthen synergies between support functions, for example by establishing a common documentation policy or simplifying administrative procedures.

This association fosters interdisciplinarity by encouraging collaborations and interactions between establishments. This should enable the Rennes site to enhance its international visibility and attractiveness.
